ARQ international is providing an advanced course in psychotrauma treatment for mental health specialists in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. The course is designed to help specialists to address consequences of psychotrauma in Ukrainian communities, in the context of the ongoing war. Three major topics will be covered: the effect of war on mental health, sexual violence, and traumatic loss and mourning.
Three series of three sessions will be held online. Each session will address one of the above-mentioned topics, followed by a time for discussion and questions. The training will be provided by experienced psychologist and trainer Kim Bemelmans-Huijgen.
The training will be held in English and simultaneous interpretation to Ukrainian will be provided. Each series has a capacity for 20 specialists.
Session 1- War and effects on mental health
What are the effects of war on mental health, and what are helpful ways to support people in times of crisis?
Session 2 – Sexual Violence
What is sexual violence, and what are normal reactions when being a victim? How do people cope and survive? How can we recognize victim blaming and educate people on this topic?
Session 3 – Traumatic loss and mourning
What are normal reactions to loss, and how can people get stuck in mourning? What can be helpful in recovery?
